Having qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1987, I undertook a General Medical Registrar rotation before studying for my Master Degree at the Hammersmith Hospital looking into the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy.
In June 1998 I was appointed Consultant Physician with an interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Kingston Hospital, Surrey where I ran a district general hospital diabetes and endocrinology service, with out-reach diabetes and endocrinology clinics and was Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Trust Information Technology Lead for my last 4 years there.
In March 2003 I moved to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and with 3 colleagues provide a busy in-patient and outpatient Endocrinology and Diabetes service. I have a particular interest in diabetes microvascular complications, new therapies, Thyroid disease, PCOS and pituitary disease as well as running the adolescent diabetes, diabetic retinopathy clinics and a joint endocrine surgery clinic.
I also hold Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist Contracts with the Royal Brompton Hospital, and the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer with Imperial College, head the Imperial Year 3 examination board, am the Clinical Tutor for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and run an MSc module in Diabetic Retinopathy for the University of Roehampton Diabetes MSc program as well as examining on the Middlesex University / Rila Publications Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes and Endocrinology.
